“All Art Is Propaganda” LP is ready now, and out per 16th of March

Hi there, everybody. We’ve just received our first batch of the initial pressing of what is the band’s first release in a physical edition.
The debut album “All Art Is Propaganda” (which was recorded in the spring and mixed and uploaded in the summer of 2011) has now been mastered for the analogue medium. We think it has a nice punchy and boomy warmth that fits that format.

So if you’d like a more tangible, substancial version of this album, get the LP. It’ll be cheap.

There’s another sleeve art for this edition, as the original graphic files were lost in a burned-out harddisk and thus couldn’t be sourced in a sufficiently high resolution fit for 32×32 cm.

Tracklisting and run time is otherwise identical. Specific details to follow soon on the page titled, appropriately enough, Releases.

We’ll put price details up soon along with information about (pre-)ordering.

In support of all this we’re playing in Copenhagen on March 16 and Aarhus on the 24th, with the possibility of adding other dates and places to the calendar. Some gigs abroad could probably be in the works too. Vinyls will of course be purchasable at the venues on the forthcoming “tour”.

Our gig at Voxhall as support for Nisennenmondai went pretty well. We played two new songs that will probably end up on future releases. You can watch the whole thing here:

Two days before Voxhall we played the collective where Sinas is living. It was a crazy experience. The audience was taking part of our performance, the atmosphere was hazy and drugged-out and the police dropped by to tell us to turn it down. Appearently an officer was talking to Freja while we were playing but I was too stoned to recognize him. Lucky as the cops give me the creeps.

The new line-up are recording lots of stuff and it’s quite likely that we’ll either do a double album or two very different albums released simultaniously as we’re recording songs in many different styles. This also means we won’t play concerts before March. As mentioned before our future recordings will be all-analog and we learned a few tricks when it comes to engineering.

Soon “All Art Is Propaganda” will be released on Neh-Owh Records – the first press will be 250 units. The vinyl version have been remastered and will sound warmer and punchier.

And finally we now have management: Morten Ettrup will take care of arranging gigs for us and as he’s the second coming of Tony Wilson this is quite a scoop.

Line-up and studio improvements

Kasper and his magnificent Jaguar-guitar have now joined us full-time, because – well – they kept turning up for every rehearsal, gig and proved to produce awesome music and soundscapes. And besides he’s just a really swell guy too. Freja is awesome too, but unfortunately (for us) other people have noticed that also, and so she’s a bit preoccupied doing other artsy stuff (in addition to being in crazy space rock band), but she’ll join in from time to time, and we’ll probably reevaluate the situation when everybody’s calendars aren’t totally filled.

This new and improved Spökraket (and its extended version) will focus on internal affairs for a while and gig less for some months, after a heavy amount of hometown concerts. But we’ll probably do the odd gig elsewhere when and if the opportunity arises.
We recently reorganised the rehearsal space, so everything is neat, tidy, relaxing and comfy and thus hopefully an environment in which we’ll be able to make even better music. We’ll keep you updated with more in-depth news and more genre-specific stuff at a later date, when ideas transform into something more tangible. Right now we’re just jamming and recording that.

Perhaps this would work as a pre-concert “party” playlist. To set the mood. And/or to prolong it when you get home again. It’s probably a bit too chill, and I could maybe use some suggestions to spice it up and get that crazy motorik-beatnik party insanity going (or maybe that’s another topic and another playlist?)

Right now it’s mostly functioning as nice way to kill some time when insomnia’s taken hold. More mentally stimulating and not as boring as staring into a blank screen.

Status update: new members, new machines, new songs, new concerts

We’re doing really well. Two exciting gigs in Århus during the next month, Sinas have joined us on the drums, two new part-time members (Freja Pallesen on Juno 60 synth, tambourine and vocals) and Kasper Skotte (Fender Jaguar guitar) and also “All Art Is Propaganda” will soon be released on vinyl on Neh-Owh Records.

Spökraket have already started recording the second album – so far we have a song that sounds like the mix between Spacemen 3, The Doors and The Electronic Hole, a great 22-minutes long improvisation and lots of sketches based on improvisations or contributions from individual members. We’ll probably end up with more good and well-recordings that can be on one album, so maybe there’ll be a double album, maybe there’ll be two in a row or maybe we’ll make a compilation of the best outtakes for download only. So all in all it’s not bad to be Spökraket these days.

Also Cable Hell Studios is being improved at the time; now we got a Fostex R8 reel-to-reel and waiting for other machines to be repaired. Anyone who wants to sell us their 8 or 16 track machines please drop a mail. On top of the list is a Fostex E16 or G16 as they’re reliable, well-sounding and pretty easy to use.

For those of you living in Denmark – see you on Voxhall the 28th as support for Nisennenmondai or on the 16th playing along our friends from Mammatus Cloud and The Road To Suicide. We’re keen on touring other countries as soon the record is out, so text us if you by any chance can get us a gig.

Quick news; website update

So, we’ve rearrangered some stuff and generally moved bits and pieces around, resulting – hopefully – in a website that’ll be more interactive, and which will see more participation and writing from all members.
All in all meaning that this site/blog/news outlet should be more fun and informative to visit.

We’re still migrating data, but most is up and running now, and all should be fully functioning when the weekend’s over.
